Rabri's promise to Rajdhani victims remains a promise

Anand Mohan Sahay in Patna

Two days have passed, but there is no sign of the helicopter that was promised by Rashtriya Janata Dal president Laloo Prasad Yadav and his wife, Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, to four seriously injured passengers of the Rajdhani Express accident. The aircraft was meant to fly them to a hospital in Patna for better treatment.

The four survivors battling for life in a government-run hospital in Gaya have not lost hope yet, but the Yadav couple seems to have forgotten its promise.

The four survivors --- Vinai Kumar Maiati, Radhe Krishna Soni, Imtiyaz, and Manjit Kaur --- were shifted to a hospital in Gaya after being rescued on Tuesday. They were then referred to the Patna Medical College and Hospital in view of their critical condition.

But with no sign of the promised helicopter, doctors are fighting to keep the four survivors going.
