Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati, caught in a video tape controversy, accused the Samjawadi Party of being 'desperate' following the defeat of its no-confidence motion against her government.
She said this while addressing newsmen after meeting Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani in New Delhi on Friday.
"I have already replied to the tape issue raised by Mulayam Singh Yadav on March 4 by calling a press conference and issuing a press note. I do not want to repeat that," she said.
She added, "Those people [Samajwadi Party] were thinking of grabbing power by any means, including buying MLAs of the ruling coalition. But none of the MLAs fell into their trap."
The Bahujan Samaj Party leader said she discussed with Advani the strategy to be adopted in contesting jointly the Parliamentary elections, due within two years, as the two parties [the BJP and the BSP] had decided to fight together.
