Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, who was likely to be inducted into the Union Cabinet on Saturday, cancelled her visit to New Delhi in the morning and summoned an emergency working committee meeting of the party.
The decision followed reports from New Delhi that senior party leader Sudip Bandopadhyay was being considered for induction into the Cabinet against Mamata's wishes.
The party later faxed a letter to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee terming as 'incorrect' the decision to include a
Trinamool MP without consulting the party.
Mamata had earlier expressed her reservations on Bandopadhyay's inclusion in the Cabinet and had proposed Akber Ali Khandokar's name.
Bandopadhyay has been camping in New Delhi for the last few days.
