Driven by food scarcity, angry residents on Thursday broke the shutters of two government godowns in the collectorate campus in flood-hit Darbhanga district of Bihar and looted foodgrains and other items, official sources said.
Police later arrived at the spot and chased the mob away.

Incidentally, on Wednesday, a group of businessmen, led by the district president of the chamber of commerce Pawan Sureka, met District Magistrate Pradeep Kumar and sought protection for their business premises after anti-social elements looted foodgrains, edible oils and other items worth nearly Rs 80 lakh over the last couple of days when officials were busy tackling floods.
