Security officials on Thursday briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
The PM, who chaired a meeting of the Unified Command in Jammu, was told that cross-border infiltration had declined.
Singh was told that 54 attempts of infiltration were made till November this year against 157 last year.
The PM was also informed that around 350 terrorists were waiting for a chance to sneak in from Pakistan.
Fencing of the International Border and Line of Control had helped in curtailing the influx of terrorists, Singh was told.
Governor S K Sinha, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and top commanders of the army, police, Border Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force were present at the meeting.
