The Uttar Pradesh government has worked out a detailed security plan, including installation of four x-ray machines and deployment of police personnel, to meet the conditions laid out by the Supreme Court for allowing night viewing of the Taj Mahal.
"A high-level meting was held here today and the security arrangements were discussed in detail. Now the government will submit a consolidated affidavit along with the permission of the home and environment ministries as also the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute report before the Supreme Court before October 26," state Chief Secretary V K Mittal, who chaired the meeting, said.
The government is hopeful that with the permission of all relevant agencies the night viewing of the Taj, stopped in 1984 in the aftermath of Operation Bluestar, can be resumed from November 25, Mittal said.
