The eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Thursday granted bail to former Maoist and outlawed Revolutionary Writers Association founder-member Varavara Rao.
Another former Maoist emissary and Viplava Rachayitala Sangham or Virasam president G Kalyan Rao was given bail by the first additional chief metropolitan magistrate on Wednesday.

Despite being granted bail, both Varavara Rao and Kalyan Rao will have to remain in jail as the first class judicial magistrate, Anantapur, has remanded them to judicial custody till September 5 in an attempt to murder case in Mudigubba area of Anantapur district last year.
Eighth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate A Jagdishchandra Rao pronounced the orders on the personal bail petition of Varavara Rao and directed him to furnish 2 sureties of Rs 5,000 each.

Similarly, First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Pramila Reddy had directed Kalyan Rao to execute 2 sureties of Rs 5,000 each.
Varavara Rao was arrested from his flat and Kalyan Rao was picked up from the Press Club in the city on August 19 following the imposition of the ban on the RWA alongwith 6 other frontal organisations and Communist Party of India-Maoist by Andhra Pradesh government on August 17.
Both the former emissaries were detained under sections 8 (1) and 8 (2) of the Andhra Pradesh Public Security Act for being members of a banned organisation.

Police said both the revolutionary writer-poets were listed as accused in 7 criminal cases relating to violent incidents in Mahbubnagar, Warangal, Prakasam, Guntur and 3 other districts.
The police are making efforts to get pending trial arrest warrants against Varavara Rao and Kalyan Rao from the local courts in their districts.
The eighth additional chief metropolitan magistrate also allowed the plea of Varavara Rao seeking his trial in Hyderabad in connection with the other cases pending in the districts.
