Salem and I are separated: Monica

Extradited underworld don Abu Salem's companion Monica Bedi has claimed that although she had gone along with him to Portugal, they had later separated, a senior police official said on Wednesday.

Monica has largely remained silent during interrogation for the past two days.

"No significant disclosure has come forth," the officer said.

Regarding obtaining a fake passport from Bhopal, the actress claimed that she never visited the state capital.

Senior police officers of the Crime Branch, who interrogated her, said she displayed a calm and unperturbed demeanour and did not make any demands during questioning.

Monica was brought by the Hyderabad police to the state capital late on December four in connection with a fake passport case.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Dangi had sent her to police remand for two days on December five although police had sought a 5-day remand.

The Bollywood starlet will be produced before the court on Wednesday where her counsel Sudhir Batra will present her bail application before the court.

A city police team might leave for Hyderabad along with Bedi late Wednesday, as she is has to appear in a court there on December nine.

Salem, his wife Samira Jumani and Monica had allegedly got fake passports made at the regional passport office in Bhopal using the aliases Danish Baig, Rubina Baig and Fauzia Osman respectively in July, 2001.

A case was lodged in the Koh-i-Fiza Police Station in November 2001 against the three besides city-resident Saiyyad Abdul alias Shiraz Abdul and his brother Kabir alias Baba Abu.

Abdul and Kabir are out on bail.
