A Kam Air plane in Afghanistan with 96 passengers onboard has gone missing, agency reports said.

Kam Air is a private company.

The plane was on a flight from the western city of Herat to Kabul on Thursday afternoon. It went missing soon after its pilot sought permission to land in Pakistan.

The company contacted the International Security Assistance Force, but the NATO-led peacekeeping force said it had no word of a missing aircraft.

The Afghan Civil Aviation Information Service said: "We cannot confirm or deny that the Kam Air flight has gone missing."
