Former Miss Jammu Anara Gupta's family said on Wednesday that it would approach the President and the prime minister seeking a CBI probe in porn CD case.
The family termed the reported findings of a Chandigarh forensic laboratory on Tuesday that Anara was indeed the girl in the porn CD as a desperate attempt by Jammu and Kashmir police to save its skin.
"The police is using its old tactics of misusing the media. It is planting a concocted story again to save its skin," Anara's Delhi-based maternal uncle Sanjoy Sachdev said, adding, "The advocate representing the suspended policemen came on TV providing the details about the report. What is his locus standi to disclose the report?"
Sachdev said the family would submit memoranda to the President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday, appealing them to hand over the case to the CBI.
"From the beginning, we have been saying we have no faith in Jammu and Kashmir police and want a CBI probe in the matter," he said.
Questioning the reported forensic findings of the Chandigarh lab, Sachdev said, "It is claimed in media reports that Jammu and Kashmir police sent CDs to the Chandigarh forensic lab on January 27. But how could it do it when the case had already been handed over to the Crime Branch."
