Advocates in Jammu continued their stir for the third day on Wednesday, paralyzing the functioning of the courts.
They also decided to go on an indefinite strike from Thursday and also to hold demonstration before the secretariat to press their demands, including the setting up of advocates' chambers at the HC complex.
The lawyers locked up the gates of the premises of the high court and lower courts. They then staged a dharna and allowed only the vehicle of the chief justice to pass through.
The lawyers also threatened to forcibly enter into the official residence of state Power Minister M S Naiz, whose house is located near the court complex, if their demands were not met.
Considering the gravity of the situation, security has been beefed up in and around Naiz's house.
The strike, sponsored by the Jammu Bar Association to demand, was total, a JBA spokesman said in Jammu.
