The Godhra commission is likely to hear an application seeking to cross examine former president K R Narayanan and Additional Director General of Gujarat police R B Sreekumar on March 9, an advocate appearing on behalf of several post-Godhra communal riot victims said in Ahmedabad on Friday.

The advocate Mukul Sinha said that his application seeking cross-examination is likely to come up before the comission comprising Justice (retd) G T Nanavati and Justice (retd) K G Shah.

Narayanan criticises Vajpayee on Gujarat riots

Sreekumar had said on Thursday that he was "tutored" by the Gujarat government advocate and an IPS officer to toe the government line before the Commission.

Narayanan, in an interview, had criticised former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee for the way he handled the post-Godhra communal riots.

"I will apply to the commission to summon Sreekumar again and also the former president regarding the recent developments and their statements. What they have both said needs to be examined before the commission", Sinha said.

He said that he has received a communication from the commission to hear his applications, seeking to summon the two, on March 9.
