The Andhra Pradesh government is hopeful that the stalled talks with the Naxalites will begin soon, the government's representative for the talks, T Purshotama Rao, said on Monday.
"The government intends to discuss socio-economic issues, land distribution, women's empowerment, employment, education, globalisation, creation of small states, problems of SC/STs with the Naxalites and also with every responsible person in the society," Rao told reporters in Vijayawada.
The second round of talks was a 'historic need' to bring the ultras into the mainstream of society, Rao, who is also a member of the government's surplus land distribution committee, said.
The first round of talks was held in October last year.
