President A P J Abdul Kalam has sanctioned more than 100 computers to schools in Uri and Usuna in Jammu and Kashmir.
This comes after the President's two-day visit to the quake-hit regions where he met children from many schools that were flattened in the quake.
"The President has sanctioned five computers each to 18 schools in Uri and 15 computers for three schools in Usuna.
"President Kalam promised to send a technician from Rashtrapati Bhavan to train the teachers. In case there is a problem in building rooms for the schools the same would be done by the state government," Press Secretary to the President S M Khan, who accompanied President Kalam to the Valley, told rediff.com.
"The people of Uri and Usuna praised the Indian Army for the relief and rehabilitation work done by the soldiers despite the fact that their own men were also affected.
"One of the jawans told the President that the whole mountain range seemed to be swinging when the earthquake struck," Khan said.
Stepping out of the special enclosure erected for the President and guests, President Kalam shared food with the jawans.
