In a bid to pressurise the leadership to ensure transfer of power on November two, all 19 members of the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly from the Congress are understood to have tendered their resignations to the assembly speaker, top Congress sources said on Wednesday.

"All the 19 party MLAs have tendered their resignations to Speaker Tara Chand in New Delhi to ensure that transfer of power from the Peoples' Democratic Party to the Congress takes place in the state at the right time on November two," the sources said.
While Tara Chand refused to comment on the issue, Pradesh Congress Committee chief Peerzada Mohd Sayeed said he had no knowledge about it.
The MLAs have forwarded their resignations in order allow Congress President Sonia Gandhi to decide the fate of the party in Jammu and Kashmir, the sources said.

"We hope that she would definitely take a decision, which would benefit the party and nation at large," they said, adding, "we are awaiting her reply."
"If Congress fails to fulfill the promise made to the Jammu constituency on change of power and install a Jammu chief minister, we will face rout in next assembly elections," the MLAs said.
