Pravin Mahajan has told the police that he shot at his elder brother Pramod Mahajan as he was "boiling with anger" for the past several days because the Bharatiya Janata Party leader was ignoring him.

On the second day of his interrogation Monday, Pravin maintained that he had fired bullets at Mahajan in a "fit or rage" after he abruptly discontinued a conversation with him, and ignored his presence, police sources said.

"What he said was that anger was boiling inside him for past several days," Additional Police Commissioner Subodh Kumar Jaiswal told PTI.

45-year-old Pravin said that anger was simmering in his heart because he was living an obscure life despite being the brother of an influential politician of the country, just because his brother had stopped helping him financially.

"What's wrong if I expect my brother to help me? Even his (Pramod's) personal staff is minting money using Pramod's name," Pravin, who has been charged with attempt to murder and is in police custody, alleged during the interrogation.

Police sources said they have seized the hard disk of a computer at Pravin's house, besides his digital diary and a cellphone.

"We have sought billing details of Pravin's mobile phone to ascertain with whom he was in touch on Friday night and on Saturday morning when he left for Pramod Mahajan's Worli residence" where he fired at the BJP leader, investigating officials said.

But they said that it would take a long time to identify the persons whom Pravin called up.
