Lamenting that development in this prestigious Lok Sabha constituency was not up to par since 'a different party is ruling the state', Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that the pace would pick up after the May 8 by-election.
Rahul, who visited Harchandpur Assembly constituency to garner votes for his mother, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, addressed several meetings and met a cross-section of the people.
The MP from neighbouring Amethi Lok Sabha constituency claimed that whatever development was taking place in the area was due to the efforts of the Gandhi-Nehru family.
However, the 'pace of development is not satisfactory as there is a different party ruling in the state', he said. He said it would pick up after the May 8 bypoll, in which his mother is seeking re-election from the constituency. He said his mother would also shortly be visiting the area to meet the people.
