Two policemen were suspended on Sunday in connection with the serial murders of children in Noida as angry locals attacked the house of the alleged mastermind.
The beat constables were suspended for dereliction of duty in the wake of allegations by locals that the police had refused to take action when they were informed about a number of children going missing in this industrial township of Uttar Pradesh bordering Delhi.
As investigations continued in the case uncovered two days back, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati visited the site of recovery of skeletal remains of children and sought the dismissal of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government and a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the case.
A large crowd, stated to be supporters of the BSP and the Congress, gathered at the site shouting slogans against the Mulayam Singh government and seeking its removal.
Mayawati's visit took place a day after UP Congress chief Salman Khurshid came to the scene of the crime and accused Samajwadi Party government for deterioration in law and order situation in the state. He also demanded a CBI probe.
In Lucknow, state BJP president Kesari Nath Tripathi alleged that the police was not probing the case sincerely.
