The police on Monday said they have arrested two persons alleged to have links with terrorist groups and recovered three bombs, including a highly explosive device.

Acting on an information provided by two persons - Zahed and Kaleem - arrested on December 18 in connection with the blast at the Task Force office, police on Sunday arrested Shakeel and Syed Haji, both residents of Hyderabad, Additional Commissoner of Police Rajiv Trivedi told reporters.

A bag containing bombs was recovered from Chalki village in Zaheerabad in Medak district, which were meant for targeting the Police Commissioner, Director General of Police and the Hi-Tech city, he said.

The recovered bombs, including a highly explosive device connected to a cellphone remote, were deactivated by police, Trivedi said.

Of those arrested, Shakeel was a trusted associate of Moulana Naseeruddin, a fundamentalist preacher, arrested by Gujarat Police last year on charges of involvement in the killing of the former Home Minister Haren Pandya.
