'Andhra geared up to meet security challenges'

The Andhra Pradesh government, which in January is hosting the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the Congress party's plenary session, is fully geared up to meet any security challenge, Home Minister K Jana Reddy said on Thursday.

In an interactive session with Intelligence Bureau Chief E S Lakshminarasimha who called on him, Reddy said the government was fully prepared to ensure that the event went off peacefully.

Following the recent arrests of some suspected terrorists in Hyderabad and neighbouring districts, the police and intelligence agencies have beefed up security.
