Central security agencies are understood to have picked up some people, including key suspects in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai, along the India-Nepal border.

Though neither the Mumbai police nor any security agencies were willing to speak about the detentions, informed sources said "a few people" had been detained along the border.

These people are believed to have had a role in organising, engineering and active participation in the blasts that left nearly 200 people dead and 700 others injured.

The Mumbai police were also trying to speak to Aamir Mir, a Students Islamic Movement of India activist at present lodged in a Kanpur jail. A petition had been submitted before the designated court seeking permission for his questioning.
