Accused of raping a minor girl, arrested Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force K S Padhi has been identified by her in Srinagar on Sunday night, Central Bureau of Investigation sources said on Monday.
The identification parade of Padhi, who was arrested by CBI last week in connection with the sex racket, was conducted in the Central Jail where he is now in judicial custody. He was identified by the victim, the sources said.
Padhi, in his statement to the CBI, has said he was using the girls for "operational purposes" to gather information about the militants, the sources said.
The CBI continued with questioning of some other girls allegedly involved in the racket to ascertain the "extent of the involvement of the state machinery" in the scandal, they said.
Nine people, including Sabeena, the main accused in the racket, have been arrested so far in connection with the scandal that triggered widespread protests in the Kashmir Valley last month.
Meanwhile, efforts continued to nab elusive former Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir Anil Sethi in connection with the sex racket.
CBI sources said raids continued for the second consicutive day to nab Sethi, named by the 15-year-old girl as one of the 11 people who had allegedly raped her.
A local court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against him.
The CBI has formed special teams to find Sethi who has continued to evade the agency.
