Ruling out any terror threat to his state, Goa Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane on Wednesday said extra forces were requisitioned to provide security during the upcoming tourist season and the International Film Festival of India 2006.

"There is no terror threat and precautions are taken because the tourist season has begun and IFFI is scheduled this month," Rane said.

Reacting to media reports that the Centre has warned the state that extremist groups could target it in the days to come, Rane said Goa has not received any communication from the Union home ministry in this regard.

"We are ready to face any emergency and a battalion comprising 500 personnel was requisitioned from the Centre to ensure law and order," he said.
