One person was detained on Wednesday night by Jalpaiguri police in connection with the blast in two coaches of the Haldibari-New Jalpaiguri Passenger train.
Jalpaiguri Superintendent of Police Tripurari said here today that State Intelligence Bureau had picked up one Subodh Gain from Gatebazar near New Jalpaiguri under Bhaktinagar police station and handed him over to Jalpaiguri district police.
Tripurari said police has been interrogating Gain, suspected to have connection with the case. He said they were also interrogating 12 KLO imprisoned cadres.
A six-member team of Central Forensic & Science Lab, led by Dr Chandranath Banerjee, has been investigating into the blast.
Seven people died and more than 60 injured in the explosion that ripped through the general compartment GS-8321 of the passenger train under North Eastern Frontier Railway.
Two coaches of the train, Haldibari-New Jalpaiguri Passenger, were to be attached to the Darjeeling Mail at New Jalpaiguri.
Neither of these were hit by the blast though, which occurred in a general compartment. The train was waiting to leave Belakoba station, 18 km from New Jalpaiguri, when the explosion took place.
