After being among controversies for his recent remarks on the Babri Masjid demolition and Bangladesh, Congress parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi on Thursday made a significant political statement, stating that his role was not limited to Uttar Pradesh alone.
"My role is not limited to Uttar Pradesh, but I would not leave the state either," he said during his election meeting at Khairabad under Lahaarpur assembly constituency in Sitapur district.
He also assured the young turnout that he would continue to work for them even after the assembly polls.
In this context, the young Congress parliamentarian expressed concern over the dismal performance of the state in all spheres and urged the people of the state to support his party to expedite the process of development and growth.
The star Congress campaigner charged successive governments in the state with denying the youth an opportunity to become the 'fuel' in the state's development.
Addressing election meetings in Sitapur and Bahraich districts, Rahul said youths from the state were working in the states like Punjab, Haryana, Maharashtra and Karnataka, and helping them in their development.
Without naming Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Congress lawmaker alleged that the present UP government was misutilising public funds meant for development.
