Three more injured Central Reserve Police Force jawans succumbed to their wounds on Saturday, taking the death toll in Friday's Improvised Explosive Device blast in Anantnag district to five.
Of the six CRPF jawans injured in the blast, three succumbed to injuries in the hospital on Saturday morning, CRPF spokesman P Tripati told PTI.
Two CRPF personel were killed on Friday.
The militants targeted the cavalcade of a senior Central Reserve Police Force officer with an Improvised explosive Device in south Kashmir on Friday evening.
Police said militants detonated a powerful improvised explosive device in village Kawni, 50 km from Srinagar, when the cavalcade of the commanding officer of 130 BN CRPF was on the move in the area.
"Two of the guards were killed on the spot while six others were wounded in the massive explosion that destroyed the escort vehicle of the commanding officer who, however, had a miraculous escape," S K Singh, inspector general of CRPF told this correspondent in Srinagar.
