Three live crude bombs of "low intensity" were on Thursday found being carried in a Rae Bareily court premise by two persons who have been taken into custody, the police said.
Two "suspicious-looking" persons -- Raja Ram and Bharat Lal -- were arrested when they were found sitting at a lawyer's desk carrying a plastic packet containing the bombs, they said.
Panic gripped the area as the news of the discovery of the bombs spread.
The bombs were found during a check carried out at the court premises by the police as the day marked the anniversary of the demolition of the disputed structure in Ayodhya.
The trial of the demolition cases are also being held in the courts in Rae Bareily.
"A thorough checking of the court premises is going on and we are keeping a close eye," Suprintendent of Police Mohit Aggarwal told reporters.
The two arrrested persons are being interrogated to establish their motive, he said.
The police are also verifying the names of the two arrested persons, police said, adding that only on Wednesday the statement of the first witness in the demolition case was recorded by a Rae Bareily court.
Giving details, Aggarwal said, "The bombs are crude ones and their intensity is not too much."
The SP said key installations including the railway station, the bus terminal and certain other public places were also being searched.
Policemen in plain clothes were maintaining a vigil in the city, he said.
