Samajwadi Party supremo and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on Tuesday said poll results of Punjab and Uttarakhand have stressed the need for a Third Front in the country.
"With Congress clearly failing to stop BJP in these two states, now a demand for third front has again gained ground in the country," he added.
Talking to mediapersons, Mulayam Singh though alleging that both the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party were united against his government, said now it was high time for all secular forces to unite against the two parties.
Claiming that the debacle of Congress in Punjab and Uttarakhand Assembly polls was only due to the anti-people policies of the Centre, he said the party will also experience the same fate in UP elections.
"Congress was only interested in toppling my government rather than making serious effort to defeat the communal forces," he added.
Mulayam Singh said SP is prepared for Assembly polls in UP and claimed there is no challenge from the BJP or any other party in the seven-phase Assembly elections in the state.
