Scores of Telangana Rashtra Samithi activists, including several MPs, MLAs and MLCs were arrested as the Hyderabad police foiled their attempt to lay siege to the secretariat on Monday.

The TRS is protesting against the government for not implementing the jobs-for-locals Government Order 610 before the deadline of June 30.

TRS MP D Ravindra Naik alleged that the government was not implementing GO 610 GO, thereby denying new public employment opportunities to unemployed youth from Telangana.

Naik alleged that the government was fudging the figures about non-local employees. He declared the TRS would continue its struggle "till the last employee of Andhra is transferred out of Telangana as per GO 610." TRS MP Madhusudhan Reddy charged the government with cracking down on the Telangana movement with 'brute' police force whereas TRS was agitating in a peaceful manner.

Chief Minister Dr Rajasekhar Reddy asserted that the government was committed to implement the GO in letter and spirit and would complete the process by July 15. "The GO will be implemented with least inconvenience to non-gazetted officers and other government officials," he added.
