The Bangalore police said on Thursday that they had not received any communication from British or Australian authorities on the detention of two Indian doctors in connection with foiled terror attacks in Britain.
"We have not received any communication," Bangalore's Police Commissioner Achutha Rao said. "However, we are conducting our own inquiries."
Asked whether these inquiries had thrown up any clues about the detained doctors, he said, "We do not have anything interesting on this front to share with the media."
Rao also refuted allegations that there was an intelligence failure on the part of police with respect to the two doctors who had studied in the city's Dr B R Ambedkar College.
"It is still unclear whether the two were involved with any outfit during their student days in the city. Indoctrination, if any, could have even taken place at a later stage. Nothing is clear now," he said.
On the threat perception in Bangalore, he said regular reviews are held to evaluate threats.
Doctors Mohammed Haneef and Sabeel Ahmed were detained in Brisbane and Liverpool respectively in connection with the foiled attacks in Glasgow and London.
The two passed out of the Ambedkar College and had once worked at the same hospital in Cheshire.
