Responding to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's remarks that the Line of Control be converted into a line of peace, Pakistan on Monday said any out of the box solution reflecting the aspirations of Kashmiri people will make the LoC irrelevant and turn Kashmir into an abode of peace.
"Pakistan has always maintained that the dialogue process should focus on making progress on issues that have caused tension and conflict between Pakistan and India," Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said.
She was reacting to the prime minister's statement in Jammu that the Line of Control should be turned into a line of peace.
"The Indian Prime Minister has acknowledged that the two sides are seriously discussing the Kashmir dispute. President (Gen. Pervez Musharraf) has already outlined certain ideas and emphasised the settlement should be such that is acceptable to Pakistan, India and more importantly to people of Kashmir," she said.
"Pakistan has made many proposals for greater interactions between Kashmiris on both sides. Any out of the box solution to the Kashmir dispute that reflects aspirations of Kashmiris would make the Line of Control irrelevant. If that happens not only the LoC but the whole of Kashmir would become an abode of peace," she added.
