Congress' woman legislator Victoria Fernandes, who rebelled against her party to join BJP, has re-tendered her resignation to the Speaker's Office.

Her earlier resignation was not accepted by Speaker Pratapsingh Rane.

Rane was not present in the office when the 70-year-old woman legislator went to meet him in his chamber.

"I have come after seeking formal appointment with the Speaker but he has failed to come," Fernandes told media persons waiting outside the chamber on Friday.

Fernandes later went to the secretary legislature T Dhruvakumar and tendered her resignation.

This is for the second time that Fernandes is tendering her resignation. Earlier on July 25 midnight, Fernandes had faxed her resignation to the Speaker.

Save Goa Front president Churchill Alemao, United Goans Democratic Party Legislator Atanasio Monserratte, BJP legislator Fransisco D'souza and others accompanied her.

Fernandes, a four time St Cruz legislator and the only woman legislator in the 40-seat Goa assembly, has been demanding ministerial berth.

She had launched indefinite hunger strike just before the swearing-in ceremony of legislators last month and had withdrawn it after a formal assurance from CM Digamber Kamat.

Later, Fernandes was inducted as the parliamentary secretary with Cabinet rank.

"Congress has harassed me... they were not bothered when I was on road demanding justice... now they are requesting me to reconsider my decision to quit Congress," Fernandes said.

The woman legislator has already tendered her resignation from the Congress party.
