Hyderabad was on Friday night put on a high terror alert following intelligence reports warning four suspected suicide bombers entered the city and could carry out subversive activities in near future.
According to sources, the city police, particularly in old city area, have been asked to frisk people in order to track down the suicide bombers, who are said to have entered the city recently.
N V Surendera Babu, additional commissioner of police (coordination), said: "We have put the force on high alert to thwart any attempt by the terrorists."
However, he declined to identify the suspected militant group named by the intelligence report.
Hyderabad had recently witnessed two bomb blasts, which claimed 43 lives and left many injured. However, no arrests have been made in this connection.
Hyderabad will be hosting the World Military Games from the second week of October in which participants from 100 countries are expected to participate.
Meanwhile, additional security forces, mainly policemen in plain clothes, have been deployed in and around the hotel, where the Indian and Australian cricket teams are staying, following the terror alert. The two teams were in the city for the third ODI, which Australia won.
