Just yesterday, the nation was sympathising with him and his family. Today, Syed Salim, a businessman working in Ajmer for the past eight years who died in the blasts is now being seen as a suspect.
The police say a wire found in Salim's pocket is similar to the one used in the blast.
Just yesterday, the state government had announced compensation for the family of the deceased. Today, with his role in the blasts being investigated, the compensation too has been put on hold.
The investigating agency says that they are examining his role with the dreaded Harkat-ul Jamaat-e-Islami outfit based in Bangladesh. Apart from this the police have also found that a SIM card at the blast spot. The cops feel that the SIM may have belonged to Salim.
The police although are not able to confirm officially whether Salim is really behind the attack. They say that at the moment he is a suspect and the probe is still on. Only further investigation will tell what the truth is, the police say.
Salim had come to Ajmer around eight years ago. Salim, who was considered to be a very religious man, used to sell bangles outside the dargah. Sources say that Salim could have come in contact with Shahid Bilal, the dreaded HuJi man who is also a native of Hyderabad.
Bilal who is a master with the Hyderabad terrain is also known to have recruited several youth from Hyderabad to assist him in terror operations.
