The four-year-old kidnapped son of a software engineer couple in Hyderabad has been found.
Rohit was released by his kidnappers at Tekulapalli village in Khammam district of the state on Wednesday, police said.
"We spoke to him over phone. He is in the safe custody of police. We are very happy," his father Ravinder Reddy, a senior executive in Cognizant Technologies, told media persons.
Hours after Rohit's mother made an emotional appeal for his release on humanitarian grounds, his abductors left him by the roadside at Tekulapalli.
The villagers took the boy, who was sick and prone to convulsions, to the police station. The police informed the family in Hyderabad about the release.
"We are very thankful to the media who gave wide coverage and flashed the pictures of my son leading to his release unharmed," Reddy said.
Rohit was abducted while playing with his elder brother and friends near Sanskruti Vidyalam School near their apartment complex on Tuesday.
Police had formed special teams to rescue the boy. However, the investigation could not make headway as no ransom call was received by the boy's parents.
A top police source told PTI that the landline phone in the boy's house was not functioning since the last two weeks, which could be the reason why no ransom call was received.
The boy's mother Lalasa, an employee with Satyam Computers, made an emotional appeal to release her son as he was suffering from fever and was prone to convulsions.
