The moderate faction of Hurriyat Conference on Tuesday demanded revocation of special power given to the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Hurriyat Conference seeks revocation of "black laws" from Jammu and Kashmir especially special powers being enjoyed by the security forces, the separatist amalgam headed by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, said in a resolution passed at a seminar in Srinagar.

The seminar titled 'Secret of prosperous South Asia: Resolution of Kashmir Issue' was presided over by its acting chairman Moulana Abbas Ansari.

Another resolution urged United Nations and other organisations, particularly human rights groups, to play an effective role in curbing the "rights violations" in the state.

Reiterating its support to the four-point formula put forth by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf for resolution of the Kashmir issue, the Hurriyat asked the Centre to respond positively to these proposals for a peaceful resolution of the long standing issue.

Acknowledging the support of Pakistan, another resolution hoped that the neighbouring country will continue its moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris till their agitation reaches its logical conclusion.

Earlier addressing the seminar, Ansari said peace in the South Asian region was impossible without the resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Urging all separatist organisations to join hands and come under a single platform, he said, "If we have to achieve our goal, we should not speak separately and join hands together."

"The doors of the Hurriyat are open for all those who are still away. The time demands us to unite," he said.
