"If possible, I will go to Mumbai to perform Chhat Puja," Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav said on Thursday.

Lalu, who was in Ranchi to address the 'Chetna' rally organised by his party -- the Rashtriya Janata Dal -- made the comment when he was asked by newspersons about the alleged anti-north India statements by leaders of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena.

Condemning the provocative 'unconstitutional' statements of MNS leader Raj Thackeray and Shiv Sena leader Udhav Thackeray, Lalu said people of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand staying in Mumbai were afraid of venturing out of their homes.

There were also reports of misbehaviour with a woman on a train, he said adding, the Mumbai police commissioner had spoken to him on phone.

Lalu said he had spoken to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the issue.

"A vase does not look beautiful with one rose, it requires a bunch of different flowers. The country is just like a vase," he said adding, he would work for the unity of the country.

"There is no place for those people spreading disharmony and hurting the social fabric," he added.
