Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao's son Hari Hara Prabhu was kidnapped by five armed men from a hotel room in Chitoor town in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The armed men barged into the hotel room in Seshapuram area, where Prabhu had put up, and took him away at gunpoint at 1900 hours, his wife Susheela said in a written complaint to the police.

Prabhu, his wife and their 10-year-old son had checked into the hotel earlier in the day.

The police has launched a man hunt to nab the kidnapers.

Susheela had in the past filed a complaint against her in-laws alleging harrassment.

Following marital discord, the couple had been living separately till recently.

However, they were said to have reached a comprimise and decided to live together.

In this backdrop, Prabhu had gone to Chittoor on February 24 to visit his in-laws.

The couple, along with their son, had booked two rooms in the hotel.

Asked whether she suspected involvement of any family member in the kidnapping, Susheela said, "I suspect this is done by those who don't want us to live together."
