Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Thursday wrote to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh seeking permission to grant an additional quota of reservation to Gurjars under the nomadic category and to Rajputs, Brahmins and Vaishyas under the economically backward class category.

The chief minister has recommended 4 to 6 per cent additional quota under nomadic cateogry to certain castes including Gurjars, and 10 to 20 per cent to Rajputs, Brahmins, and Vaishyas under EBC, BJP national treasurer Ramdas Agarwal, who is also the Chairman of Gurjar special package committee, told reporters after a party meeting.

"We have requested our party men to spread this message to every one so that any group holding any agitation should approach the Centre to get justice on quota", Agarwal said.

Agarwal assured that the chief minister would be happy to accord the quota status if the central government approved it at the earliest.

Meanwhile police have rounded up at least a dozen Gurjar leaders including R S Biduri from different parts of the state as a preventive measure in view of 'Gurjar mahapanchayat and chakka jam' on January 21, the official sources said.
