Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on Monday said that India had no doubt that the Mumbai terror attacks originated from Pakistani soil and that the Indian government was awaiting Pakistan's reply on the dossier it had submitted.

"There is no doubt that the Mumbai terrorist attack was planned and executed from Pakistan's soil. We have given the dossier to 100 countries. Nobody has expressed any doubt on it," Chidambaram told media persons in Kollam.

When his reaction was sought on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's reported comment that terror has to be paid back in the same coin, Chidambaram said the menace had to be neutralised only with police and security forces.

"I don't know what he meant by that. I think he must have some vigilante groups in his mind. In a civilised society, vigilante groups have no place," Chidambaram said.

Asked about reports that some major dams in the country could be targeted by terrorists, he said the Centre was sharing intelligence inputs with state governments whenever such information was brought to the government's notice.
