An FIR has been lodged against independent MLA from Kunda Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and his associate Zulfikar Ali, who were injured in a helicopter crash in Pratapgarh, after an inquiry found them having no license to fly the aircraft, police said today.

"After an enquiry conducted by the Director Civil Aviation Safety Ram Nath and the UP Police into the matter, an FIR was lodged at Hathigava police station by the police under various sections of the Aircraft Act 1934 and the Civil Aviation Act besides the IPC," Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Mohit Agarwal said.

He also said that the information given by a pilot Ramesh Ramnani that he was flying the aircraft when it met with the accident, has been found to be untrue and steps are being taken to cancel his license.

Earlier in the day, ADG Law and Order Brijlal had told reporters in Lucknow that in the enquiry, it was found that the Microlite aircraft was being flown without the permission of the ATC and none of the 'duo'(Raja Bhaiya and Bhutto) could produce the pilot license, attracting action under the relevant sections of the Aircraft Act 1934.

In the enquiry, it was also revealed that the aircraft was being flown in the restricted area and an attempt was made to make a landing on the road, that might have led to severe loss of human life and property, Brijlal said.
