Former MP Erasmo Sequeira dies of heart attack

Erasmo Sequeira, the former Lok Sabha member from south Goa, died of a heart attack on Wednesday night at his home.

He was 58, and is survived by his wife, son and two daughters.

Sequeira -- son of the late Dr Jack De Sequeira, the former Opposition leader and the now-defunct United Goans Party chief -- was an able parliamentarian who played a key role in the state's political, social and educational life.

Though an Opposition member in the Lok Sabha, Sequeira had good relations with Congress leaders, particularly Indira Gandhi.
