Mamata prepares for anti-Congress 'do or die' meeting on Aug 9
West Bengal's firebrand Congress leader Mamata
Banerjee says she will hold a parallel public meeting
on August 9, the day the All India Congress Committee's plenary session is scheduled in the
city.
She was prepared to face expulsion from the party, the Lok Sabha member said.
Her August 9 rally, she announced at a public meeting, would call for a 'do or die' battle
against the Left Front government's 'misrule.'
Banerjee criticised certain senior Congress leaders for
making 'compromises' to cling on to their posts in the
organisation.
''I am not interested in any
position in the party," she said, " I only want to serve the people.''
She alleged that the Congress Seva Dal booked the sprawling
Brigade Parade ground for four days to prevent her from organising
public meetings.
Banerjee said 10 Youth Congress brigades would march into the city before
1200 hours to launch her 'do or die movement against the Left front.'
She alleged that Congress leaders were opposing her in the
state because thay had an 'understanding' with
the ruling Communists.
