Rane bans use of plasticGoa Chief Minister Pratapsinh Rane on Thursday said his government would ban the use of plastic in the state from January 1. Plastic, Rane explained, does not get decomposed the natural way. Hence, such a law was necessary to maintain a clean environment. The chief minister was speaking at the Mapusa Municipal Council. He, together with Urban Development Minister Dayanand Narvekar, listened to the locals's grievances. Rane announced that a sewerage scheme would soon be taken up for Mapusa. Narvekar requested the chief minister to make provisions for development works in the municipality. It would require at least Rs 1 billion, he said. UNI |
