We are in the midst of the holiest month of the Muslim calendar, Ramzan.
Observing Ramzan is one of the five pillars of Islam that Mohammed, the messenger of God, preached.
The other four are:
Shahadah (The testimony of faith)
Salat (Ritual prayer)
Zakat (Alms giving)
Haj (Pilgrimage to Mecca)
During Ramzan devout Muslims fast for the entire month from dawn to dusk.
Observing Ramzan requires abstinence from eating, drinking, smoking, unruly thoughts, anger, and other pleasures.
Ramzan ends with the festival of Eid-al-Fitr. Eid-al-Fitr is a time for folks to dress in their best clothes, make the tastiest of food, treat their kids and visit family and friends.
