Project East-West-ALLC's Tamil movie Achamundu! Achamundu! directed by Arun Vaidyanathan has already made waves for the awards it has won in film festivals.

Aside from this, it comes with another reason to watch out for it: Karthik Raja's music. The composer returns after a lengthy hiatus even though the album contains only a few numbers. Let's take a look:

A medley of instruments interspersed with synthesized beats begins USA USA, rendered by Anupama, Krish and Rahul Nambiar, to lyrics penned by Palani Bharathi. It's generic, considering the theme which revolves all around the USA. The song suddenly shifts to strains of classical music The instrumental interlude midway crashes your ears, though, and is anything but musical.

The next is a truly a dynamic voice crooning to filmi tunes; carnatic singer Sowmya rendering Kannil Dhagam. It succeeds in engaging your attention. There's a note of gentle anguish and entreaty that cannot fail to appeal. Embar S Kannan's solo violin piece, in particular, is quite heart-wrenching, while Andal Priyadarshini's lyrics hit the right note. This number is certainly the best in the collection.

Taking off where the previous number left off is Parvai Vali Sumandhal, the vocals rendered by Rahul Nambiar this time. It's a very short track, and retains the melodious appeal of the previous number.

The theme, an instrumental piece is a rather neat blend of anguish, sorrow, and thrills.

It might not be the next great musical event, but this little album does have at least one good song going for it.
