Akshay Kumar arrested, released on bail

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar [ Images ] was arrested and released on bail at Vakola Police Station in suburban Mumbai [ Images ] on Monday morning.

The actor was slapped with an obscenity case in April after his wife Twinkle Khanna [ Images ] unbuttoned his jeans at the Lakme India [ Images ] Fashion Week. An activist Anil Nair took offence and filed a case against the couple.

"We arrested Akshay at 8.30 am today and released him on bail," Assistant Commissioner of Police, Arvind Mahadadi told rediff.com.

The actor was out of the country for the last one month and had returned to home on Sunday night.

"Akshay came with his lawyer and got bail since his act was bailable under section 294 of Indian Penal Code," Mahadadi added.

Earlier, his wife Twinkle Khanna too was arrested and released on bail.
