Carla Bruni in Woody Allen's next?

April 22, 2010 17:37 IST

Carla Bruni, wife of French president Nicolas Sarkozy, is all set to act in a Woody Allen movie in Paris this summer.

But Allen seems to be concerned about the problems that would come up because of Bruni being France's First Lady.

Bruni is to play a supporting role in the movie. The lead role has landed in the kitty of Oscar winning French actress Marion Cotillard, reports The Telegraph.

Allen told Bruni last year that she would be a "natural" choice for one his films.

But the director did not have a script ready for the former model. Bruni had then hinted that she might act in one of Allen's movies.

"Carla Bruni is not a woman who earns her living as an actress. She is a first lady. She could be taken away at any moment by other duties, like a political crisis or an important event. I have to take account of the risks that there could be, and hiring her is far from certain," Allen said.

Earlier, 42-year-old Bruni has played herself in Robert Altman's Pret-a-Porter.
