Juhi Chawla: I found Amitabh's character dull in Yudh

Juhi ChawlaJuhi Chawla is the brand ambassador for Sony Entertainment's new general entertainment channel Sony Pal.

The channel aims to “entertain and uplift one's thoughts” she said.

“I told them to have a show with me in it. May be in the near future, the channel might do a show with me," Juhi smiles.

The actress is not in favour of the typical saas-bahu serials.

"I wonder how a petty issue can drag on for several episodes. I don't see all the serials but some of them are really good. I like Mahadev and Jodha Akbar. They are very well written and produced."

Amithabh Bachchan's maiden tele-serial, Yudh, got a lukewarm response from audiences and Juhi is not enamoured of it either.

"I saw one episode of Yudh and during the break they show advertisements of Kaun Banega Crorepati. He looked so dapper in that. I think I will watch KBC instead of the serial. I found his character dull. Maybe I don't want to see him in that avatar,” she said.

Juhi would act for television if it is “something outstanding and not just any story. I would like to do a show where I can make people laugh and cry, something that adds value to one's life."

Juhi makes a brief appearance in the recently released The Hundred-Foot Journey. She says she does not count her two-scene appearance in the Om Puri-Helen Mirren starrer as her Hollywood debut.

"It was just a guest appearance. I am there for just two minutes. It is not really a debut. I was surprised that they had to use special effects to make me look the way they wanted. I was not told this will happen."

Juhi agrees with veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Om Puri that good roles are not written for older actors in Bollywood.

"The roles for older actors are few and far between. A film like A Wednesday is incomplete without actors like Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah...it was a fantastic film.

“Omji’s role in The Hundred Foot Journey is fantastic. To get to do something like that would be great. I would have grabbed the offer. It is a lovely film," she said.
