Rajukumar Hirani's Aamir Khan starrer PK, currently in theatres, is doing well at the box office and has already collected more than Rs 200 crore.
Before this hugely awaited Christmas release hit theatres, 2014 was marked by monster box office hits as well as heartwarming stories that may not have crossed the 100-crore mark but garnered wide acclaim.
Here, we present the top ten films with the biggest box office collections in 2014.

Gunday
Box office collection: Rs 78 crore
Promos of Gunday had arrived riding on a lot of expectations.
The much talked about chemistry between real life buddies Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor and peppy songs like Tune Maari Entriyaan added to the buzz.
The Yash Raj film received a bumper opening at the box office.

2 States
Box office collection: Rs 102 crore
Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt entered the Rs 100-crore club with 2 States doing extremely well in the multiplexes.
While their onscreen chemistry clicked, the romantic drama struck a chord with the masses.
Ek Villain
Box office collection: Rs 106 crore
This one was clearly the surprise entrant of the year in the Rs 100-crore club.
Mohit Suri, along with Siddharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh, had a winner on his hands with Ek Villain, that also featured memorable songs.
Holiday
Box office collection: Rs 112 crore
Akshay Kumar's big hit of the year came with Holiday, a film that grew strong at the box office with good word of mouth.
The film opened well and continued to do well.
For director AR Murugadoss, who started the 100-crore club with Ghajini, this was his second biggie in a row.
Jai Ho
Box office collection: Rs 116 crore
The fact that Salman Khan was returning to the big screen more than a year after Dabangg 2 meant exceptional opening for Jai Ho.
Unfortunately, the film didn't quite live up to Salman's exemplary box office record.
The general reaction to the film was mixed too but the film managed to cross the 100-crore mark.

Singham Returns
Box office collection: Rs 141 crore
With a huge success like Singham behind them, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty were all set for a mega outing with Singham Returns.
The film opened exceptionally well during the long weekend following Independence Day on August 15.
But early reports on the film weren't too great and collections dropped steadily thereafter.
The film eventually crossed the 100-crore mark.

Bang Bang
Box office collection: Rs 181 crore
For one of the costliest films ever to have come out of Bollywood, expectations were decidedly high from Siddharth Anand's Bang Bang!.
While it stopped short of the rare Rs 200-crore mark, this Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif starrer earned a formidable number at the box office.
It wouldn't be overstating things to say that the film has launched its director Anand into the big league.
Happy New Year
Box office collection: Rs 202 crore
With Happy New Year, Shah Rukh Khan scored his fifth century in a row.
While the film also marked another blockbuster hit for his leading lady Deepika Padukone (after Chennai Express, Ram Leela and the likes), HNY came a sa huge breather for director Farah Khan
Abhishek Bachchan was appreciated for his performance.

PK
Box office collection: Rs 200 crore+ and counting
Even though the response for PK hasn't been similar to Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan's previous collaboration (3 Idiots), PK is poised to become the highest grosser of Hirani's career.
Aamir's Dhoom 3 record of Rs 284 crore may remain untouched though.

Kick
Box office collection: Rs 232 crore
This year's Salman starrer Eid release earned debutant director Sajid Nadiadwala the distinction of being the only filmmaker to have scored a Rs 200-crore success with a debut film.
A blockbuster by all means, Kick also launched leading lady Jacqueline Fernandez into the big league.
